Ever open your Facebook or Twitter account to see individuals ranting about one topic or another? I mean they are going off on an emotional rant on a subject that appears to really drive their passion to the next level? You may be understanding because everyone has their time when it comes to going on an emotional driven vent session. Some may do it more than others but we are human right? What about when you open that same account and see that the person ranting represents a business whether it be a large conglomerate or their own small business. Does it change your opinion? The bottom line is that whether it be a good or bad day you are your business and once you have typed those words and hit send on the keyboard those words may reside in cyberspace forever. Whether you like it or not you are your brand.

These are facts that I discovered as I made the quest from Danielle Hutchinson to the author Envy Red. Everything you say and do on social media is up for debate and discussion by a jury of your peers. When trying to get to the next level this may become critical as you have no idea who is watching your posts within and outside of your circle of friends. This is not only important to business or potential business owners looking to create a brand or image for themselves but it is also important for individuals who are seeking to further their career in whatever capacity may be presented.

When used properly social media may be a good tool especially to those wishing to drive traffic to their websites. It is great to have some level of personal connection to your audience. Bombarding them with advertisements only may place your brand in a category that makes it go largely ignored if over utilized. One way to make social media work for you however, is to link your social media pages to your home website in useful ways. This adds credibility and gives search engines such as Google more than one way to locate and rank you. Adding useful content for the readers that is updated regularly is critical. In addition, joining forums and associating your brand with credible sources is another way to make social media work for you. In addition, networking, becoming familiar with key influencers in the industry, and connecting yourself to them in a way that shows your value add and helps you obtain exposure to their audience are all key.

In conclusion social media can assist you in growing your brand but it is important to know that you are your brand and represent it at all times. Information that is shared on social media sites may be useful to increasing your bottom line but all that you do can be stored in cyberspace forever and influence the image that is your brand. You are your brand!
