CANCER SURVIVOR AND LOCAL NON-PROFIT BOARD MEMBER LAUNCHES AGGRESSIVE CHARITABLE MARKETING CAMPAIGN WITH DEBUT NOVEL RELEASE “TOUCH”
Author Seeks Nominations of Local Charities Making a Difference in Their Community to Spotlight, Raise Money, and Create Awareness of Their Cause Through Envy Red's Project REVEAL
Washington, DC, Dec 1, 2010-- It is a known fact that cancer is the second leading cause of death in the U.S. and that across the country there are over 660,000 reported homeless victims with 2.5-3.5 million individuals reporting being homeless at least one night during the course of a year. While these facts are devastating, there are many statistics that are just as shocking when various causes are given exposure. Because of this Envy Red has decided to take a stance and take a grassroots approach to giving starting with her debut novel “Touch” scheduled to be released on January 1, 2011.
Philanthropy is an embedded mission of her publishing company Red Door Books which has made a commitment to donate 10% of each book sale of the gripping mystery “Touch” to the selected charity through a campaign entitled Project REVEAL. Individuals and companies may nominate their charitable organization through the author’s official website where the selected cause will be announced and the progress of the campaign will be updated on a continuous basis.
The aggressive plan seeks to reveal the unique issues facing these organizations by providing 60 days of complete and dedicated coverage to the selected charity. Upon approval of any necessary paperwork, Red Door Books and author Envy Red will promote the chosen cause and educate the public through various events and interviews during the author’s event schedule. In addition, provided literature and marketing material will be distributed to fans, sponsors, and industry leaders. The goal is to spotlight a total of six deserving charities within the course of a calendar year beginning on the book’s release date.
While writing the debut novel “Touch”, author Envy Red was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer which inspired her to use the novel, to help promote awareness and raise funds for those touched by various forms of the disease.
As a board member of Homebound Citizens Non-Profit, Envy Red is no stranger to charitable work. The local non-profit that assists homebound and disabled citizens, recently launched a campaign aimed at creating a much needed food pantry and homeless shelter in Southern Maryland’s Charles County.
Through these charities and the promotional awareness of other worthy platforms, the journey to help others shall be realized one cause at a time.
If you would like more information or to nominate your charity for this campaign, please contact Danielle Hutchinson at 202-256-5076 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Stepping out of a Tyler Perry play one fall weekend in our nation's capital, I was on a cloud. Anyone who has been to any of his live plays knows the euphoric feeling he gives you after a well received message that you just know was intended just for you. You sit in the audience after a good laugh and he steps out to deliver his thank you along with a few more messages. This particular day he called on everyone to be checked for diabetes, eliminate stress over material things, and to help someone less fortunate than yourself. The last stuck out to me as I watched an elderly homeless man dig through a trash can that was literally steps from the doors I had just exited. He proceeded to search through the empty fast food bags as I looked on witnessing him eat the remains of a stranger's meal as if it were his last supper. Now I have seen the homeless plight time and time again but never have I actually witnessed someone ravage a trash can in broad day light and stand over it eating off old chicken bones like so. Yes I've seen them take the contents with them but never to the extent that I ironically witnessed that day.
This is just one example of the crisis here and across the nation. Did you know there are over 12,000 homeless individuals right here in the DC area our nation's capital where the country's biggest decisions are made? Across the country there are over 660,000 reported homeless individuals with anywhere from 2.5-3.5 million people experiencing homelessness at least one night throughout the course of a year. More than half of homeless families have children under the age of 5 in their household. Could you imagine the fear of being reduced to the outside elements losing your sense of protection not knowing where you will receive your next basic necessity? As the winter months near this crisis becomes critical, threatening the lives of so many.
Envy Red has formed a team for the annual Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walk scheduled for the Saturday before we give thanks on November 20, 2010. We are doing our part one step at a time and you can too. Please make a small, or large if you have it, tax deductible donation and support our team and it's effort. All dollars will go directly to the Help the Homeless Fund. If you are in the DC area and able to walk, register and join our team in the fight against homelessness. Yes it will be cold so remember, when you think you have it bad, there is always someone who has it far worst. Let's do this!
My New Book
Buckle your seatbelts and prepare for an exhilarating journey set in our nation’s capital where professionals indulge in more than their six figure careers.
